The assessment of the skills requested of Credential Evaluators provides for the verification of the possession by the Associates of the knowledge, ability, autonomy and responsibility, as defined in the UNI Reference Practice Number 120: 2021.

For this reason, APICE intends to assess the profile of its members to verify their compliance with the professional figure of the Credential Evaluator and the maintenance of professional standards over time.

Assessment of compliance

The Governing Council will analyse the elements of membership as regards compliance with the assessment process - professional experience, formal and non-formal learning - asking the candidate for documentation to verify compliance with the requirements set out in the Reference Practice. When necessary to investigate further the level of knowledge and skills of the candidate, it will also be possible to request an interview or a test prepared by the Technical Commission or the presentation of any projects or work previously performed by the candidate.

Maintenance and renewal

Associates are required to carry out continuous professional updating, acquiring the minimum of professional credits established annually by the Technical Commission through the participation in training and refresher courses organised by the Association or by third parties. For the year 2022, the minimum required number of professional credits is 3 credits (1 credit = 25h of workload).

In the case of participation in courses organised by third parties, credits will be recognised only following evaluation of the courses by the Technical Commission and to the extent that it deems appropriate. In the event that the Associates do not acquire the minimum of professional credits established annually by the Technical Commission, they will be able to demonstrate that they have in any case proceeded with their professional updating by taking and passing the refresher exams organised by the Association at least once a year.

For the annual maintenance of the required professional standards it is necessary to demonstrate:

  • Training of at least 75 hours in the last 12 months, face-to-face, online or in mixed mode, relating to the specific knowledge and skills of the profession as listed in points 6.2 and 6.3 of the Reference Practice.
  • Continuous work within the profession.
  • Participation on an ongoing basis in conferences, seminars, training courses, professional development programmes and professional activities that imply the involvement of national information centres as established by the Lisbon Convention (ref. Art. IX.2), and by the subsidiary text to the same Convention (Joint Enic/Naric Charter of activities and services) aimed at maintaining and further developing the knowledge and professional skills of the credential evaluator in education systems at national and international level.
